Clinical Approach

My goal as a psychotherapist is to help individuals and couples experience an overall sense of wellbeing. This means feeling whole, accepted, worthwhile, alive, and respected.  Psychotherapy provides a safe opportunity to look clearly at yourself and your life to celebrate what is good and to make the necessary changes so that you can feel good about yourself, engage in work that is fulfilling and develop relationships that are mutually satisfying.  Full acceptance of what exists in the present or has happened in the past is a necessary

beginning.  Each individual and couple is unique and together, with honesty, respect and compassion, we will define your goals and work towards reaching them step by step. Stylistically, I tend to be warm, accepting and interactive, with a clinical approach that is practical and anchored in the realities of everyday life.  I have developed the capacity to approach complex issues with simplicity and have learned to honor strength without trivializing suffering.

My clinical work integrates psychodynamic thinking, attachment theory and research, cognitive behavioral techniques, solution-focused therapy and family system approaches.  It is informed by my life experience, as well as many years of direct clinical work and supervision of clinicians working with individuals, couples and families.  In addition, my yoga practice and interest in mind-body integration influence my clinical work.
